This & That...

Hey guys...I'm trying to clean and catch up with everybody at the same time...I know that is some weird multi-tasking! lol Everybody is back at work today....Tammy & little Isabella are spending the week with her sister so we got to get back to some sort of reality here seeing as how I don't have maid service! lol

Some of you were amazed how I remember the date of when Bill bought my rings...gosh that is just something I have always done...certain dates just stay with me...like the night he actually call me and ask me to marry him over the phone....March 26, 1968, Tuesday night around 8:45 pm..I never will forget it..I stood in our hallway on the phone...you know the one that was in it's own built in little alcove and everybody walks by and hears every word you say! lol One of the greatest moment's of my life....here is a pic for the ones of you that ask to see my ring...it is a 1/2 carat diamond set in white platinum with a matching band...the 1 carat is a ring I got when Tammy worked at a local Jewelry store and gave me a huge discount on it...but if I lost it tomorrow I wouldn't cry...BUT IF I LOST THE LITTLE ONE...OH MY WORD...IT WOULD CRUSH ME! I had to spotlight it or you would be seeing so many age spots on my hand and be talking about me behind my back! lol

Also ,,,remember here while back I won a little pic from
Dana over at the Stone Rabbit...wellllll that package came and Bill handed it to me and this is what I saw...
Oh My Word!!!! Do you see that....BENEFIBER!!!! I was laughing and choking so hard....I told Bill..ohhhh you wait til I get on that computer and go Dana's!! lol lol But He was laughing and said."Hon...I really believe the box came from Winn Dixie with a free sample and the mail lady just put everything together!" lol After closer inspection that was the case .....BUT ANY OF YOU THAT KNOW THAT LITTLE DOODLE HEAD DANA...KNOW THAT IT IS NOT BENEATH HER TO SEND ME SOMETHING LIKE THAT!!!! LOL LOL

Here is what she really sent....my handy dandy pink slapper thingy (which I had to hide from Bill...cause he was having to much fun with it!) and my very own autographed picture of the Stone Rabbit with the beautiful Golden Harvest dishes that reminded me of one of my favorite aunt & uncle ( I just got 4 of those dinner plates off of Ebay the other day! Yahoo) Thanks Dana!

Ok, some of you ask about the peanut butter cake I mentioned....it is the easiest thing in the world and if you love peant butter you will love this cake...

1 box yellow cake mix (I use Betty Crocker..super moist)

1 can cream cheese frosting ( use Betty Crocker creamy)

1 small jar peanut butter ( I use Peter Pan creamy)

1/4-1/2 cup of milk

Bake the cake according to directions in two 9 inch round pans...let cool

In a bowl mix the cream cheese frosting and the jar of peanut butter together..this will be some kind of thick...add between 1/4 to 1/2 cup milk and beat until creamy and spreadable....ice the cake and don't go skimping on the icing...there will be more than enough...keep cake in a cover cake plate in the fridge....I never have leftovers of this cake....I honestly think the Burly boys would bust a tear if I didn't cook this cake for them at gatherings ....seriously...I could be doing a fancy wedding and these guys would want the groom's cake to be this peanut butter cake!! Don't ask why cause to me it is the craziest thing I ever made up and I don't even eat it...you gotta love peanut butter to love this!!! lol lol let me know if you try it and what you think..just don't let the Burly Boys hear you...they don't take to kindly to you talking about the sacred Peanut Butter cake!!!! lol lol

Some of ask about the BBQ spaghetti...that is my own personal recipe from over 35 years ago...to the Burly boys it ranks right up there with the peanut butter cake! I know it sounds strange but once you try it you will be amazed...I'll save that for another time...I gotta get back to cleaning! Take care everyone and have a great Tuesday!!!

I love your cake mix recipes. Have you seen the cookbook called "The Cake Doctor"? It's full of cake mix cakes doctored up! Thanks for stopping by my blog. BTW, I'm not really that famous. I just managed to make a lot of quilts over 20 years, and worked with a lot of really good editors. Have a great week. Sally

Your rings are just beautiful!
I hope you have a wonderful day!

My honey loves peanut butter. I may just have to be a truly good wife and make this cake for him. I know what you mean about the little ring. I too have upgraded from the original ring that I got over 18 years ago but that one is still one of my most prized possession. However, unlike you I have a terrible memory and am terrible with dates.

Amelia said...

Yum, Yum, that cake sounds so yummy tasting...My honey is a diabetic so when I try the recipe I would need to take 90% of the cake elsewhere as he loves peanut butter.

You are amazing with dates...that is not one of my talents.

Enjoy the week.

Oh my goodness, I love peanut butter and that cake looks amazing! I wish I wasn't hypoglycemic, but I will be making that for family some time in the future! Yum!
I can't believe Bill was able to afford a 1/2 carat ring like that when he was just 16!!!!!! What kind of work did he do??????? And WHY did he propose to you over the phone?

Justine :o )

So, have you used your Benefiber yet? :) It couldn't have arrived in better style, even if I had planned it! Now you watch that hubby of yours--those little pink slappers can cause a person to become out of control!!!! whoo-whoo!

What a sweet engagement story! I was asked just a few months before you to be my sweetie's bride and my diamond is teensy!! It, however, has the most brilliant sparkle--much prettier than a bigger diamond I later received--and with terrific memories, too!

That cake recipe does sound soooooo delish!!!! My goodness, girl, you are suuuuuch a good cook!

Have your wheat dishes arrived yet? Dana

Your banner is gorgeous.

When you say small jar of peanut butter, what size is that? I have a 16 oz jar at the moment. Is there a smaller size than that?

Dot, I wrote a very long comment last night about 11:00 pm and when I sent it this big Blogger message lit up the screen and said it wasn't available. My comment did not post. sigh.

So I wrote another one not so long, and the same blogger message came up again. Again, no comment. Have you had this happen before?

Any way I am happy you received your pink slapper and your wheat dishes. That Dane is a stitch.

Now, I have been wanting to tell you about the delicious chicken and dumplings. I made them when my cousin was here and everybody loved it. Sooooo, When I had lots left over I froze it for company that was coming in a few days. When it was heated up it turned to MUSH. It still tasted good but the texture was not pleasant. LOL and Lord have mercy! My company kept pushing it around on their plate until I begged them not to eat it. I couldn't help myself I was so tickled I wanted to laugh out loud. But I didn't! What ever you do do not freeze it.

I love your engagement story. You were so young and yet you made your marriage a success. I admire your family so much. Your family reminds me of mine. Big loud and loving. Well we are loud I don't know about yours?? smile

I am writing a book here. sorry dear friend, I can go on and on.
Love the cake recipe. Can I freeze it? smile...Love Jeanne

Your ring is beautful Dot! I've worn my engagement ring every day since I got it 35 years ago - I had to get it enlarged once,as my finger wasn't young and slim anymore....sigh... but I got it back the very same day.

My Mom would love this cake, Dot! She loves peanut butter. I'm going to make it for her the next time she comes over for dinner!

Hugs, Pat

Hello Dot, Thanks for your great comment. I loved hearing about your family and the fact that you are as loud as we are. LOL. I don't think you can be in a big family and be any other way. Next time I make your chicken and dumplings I am inviting all my sisters and the neighbors. No leftovers allowed. smile. My niece is visiting here from California and she is staying with us tonight. I am so excited because we hardly ever see her. Take care and kiss that Isabella for me when you see her again.

Hey Dot, I tried the chicken and dumplin recipe . hm-m-m-m hm-m-m-m
good ! And what is so funny, my hunny bunny says he doesn't like dumplins. So when I made this I told him it was chicken stew LOL !
He swallowed it down faster than an old starved dog eating stewed okra. LOL. It went down so fast he didn't know he even ate it LOL.

It's a keeper !
