I Have A Few Glasses.....

Ok...by now y'all know I am not a fancy smancy kind of gal.....I like alot of different things....chickens...porches...and I like a few dishes (watch it Sherry!) But I have never been one to lean toward crystal glassware....I absolutely love seeing it on other's tables and in the displays but truth be told I have never bought a clear glass in all my life....

See here is just my plain old Wal-Mart dishes...love the shade of green and the fact that they go with just about anything..especially my cherry Bowls and rolling pin from Cracker Barrel....

These little beauties came with those plates like little lids and they are so heavy and the rolling pin came with it's own wooden shelf holder....glory.....oh sorry....as I was saying... I never cared for just clear glass glasses...my radar tends to go toward something like these little cuties...

Lookie here they have cherries on them...yep just plain ol glasses from Wal-Mart but I loved them.

Then I found this little set..they even go with a set of matching corning ware dishes that have the same pattern.....I have had these for a few years now.....

Ohhhhh and look at these..they remind me of something my grandmother would have had!!! You see I love vintage looking glasses and use to you could find sets of these by Anchor Hocking or Corning Ware in all the Wal-Marts....you don't see such as this around anymore.....

These are just a few of the sets that I have....I guess growing up with all the different little jelly glasses and the pretty glasses you could get with tea leaves in them just stayed with me thru the years and I like them (Sherry don't you say a word)

So see if I could set a pretty tablescape....look at the different looks I could get with just these green plates and a different set of glasses...look I could do an all green setting with different shades of green...

But I think these are my absolute favorites...there is something about old vintage fruit that just takes you back in time and makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside....especially if it has milk in it and a slice if pie to go with it!!!! So there you have it....a look at my glass scapes if you will....but to really and truly see some gorgeous eyecandy of tablescapes be sure to go over to Susan's for Tablescape Thursday...just click here!
Oh and don't forget it's Vintage Thursday....here is a set of my blue vintage Ball mason canning jars...look at those old lids....I keep them in my chicken coop on the wall...wish I knew how to can....I was always too busy picking and shelling to pay attention to the canning process! lol

Be sure to go over to Suzanne's to see more great vintage treasures....just click here....Have a great Thursday you guys!

I once spent an entire summer shelling peas on my great grandma's porch in Alabama. Gosh I wish I could do that again. That was the best time! Location, company & activity, it was the best. But I missed the canning process too! Almost every year now, my Mother In Law cans half runners and I get to help... It really is fun getting everyone together and working.

Dot, I love those glasses! I paricularly love the cherry ones with those cute checks around the lip. And I think ball jars look adorable with daisies in them. I've always loved that look.

Just wanted to tell you that I think DiDi might be feeling well enough to be released sometime today. She had a mild heart attack which is serious in someone her age, but she's aware and wants to go home. They are also doing breathing treatments on her for some congestion she has.

Thanks so much for your prayers. They are greatly appreciated. And thanks so much for these fun pictures! I love looking at your dishes and glasses, Dot! And those are some cute things!

Love you...

Sheila :-)

Hi Dot,
Love all your glasses!

As one of your commenters said you may be a glass a holic!

I don't have that problem.

Although I have plenty of others! LOL

Have a great day, and stay dry.

I love your glasses...especially the ones with cherries. Does Wal-Mart still have them???? I want to know where you keep all your different glasses and plates? You are a dangerous friend to have because when I see what you've done with yours....makes me want to find ME some!!!!

Oh I do so love all of your glasses. They remind me of home and all the wonderful ones I grew up with. You are right, they are really hard to find anymore. Yours are real treasures. Hugs, Marty

So do you think you may be a glassaholic as well as a dishaholic? LOL! Love you picket. I am unlike you here. I have to have my glasses with no patterns, not necessarily clear but no pattern. I love crystal and have a set of very fine Gorham crystal in my china cabinet that I bought before I was married. I used to be kind of fancy schmancy but am a pretty plain old soul now! LOL! Loved the glasses and the peak in you house but what is your "chicken coop?"

Great glasses. I like so many different styles I'm not sure what style is anymore, but I do know this much. If it makes you happy then that is your style. I for one think you are very stylish with your fruity glasses and green plates.

Have a happy day

Pretty! Your remark about picking and shelling sparked a memory, actually there are only a couple of my Mom's children that can, myself and my older sister but she hasn't for years. She is one busy lady, she works at the local college as the President's secretary. But back to the remark I sadly have to admit there are some things my Mom use to can that I don't know how because I always did a part of it but not all the parts. It kind of makes me sad, sure would love to have some her watermelon rinds. It may not sound good but they sure were.
Have a great day.

Betty

PS My canned products never look so good as my Mom's, she never had hers float!

I have always thought - no matter where you got it or how much it costs, that doesn't matter. It's how the piece makes you feel inside! Gotta love it! Take care dear one,
Be a sweetie,

Fun glasses!! They certainly remind me of my childhood jelly glasses. My grandkids love to shell peas from our garden. Guess they won't learn to can either, as we freeze all of our vegetables. Love the blue Ball jars. Sally

Dot, I have always loved your cherry dishes and glasses. I own a lot of glasses. But, I don't have many with decor on them. You have inspired me. I'm going to keep my eyes open for some pretty glasses like yours. I never thought about it. I do love crystal glasses.

I love your glasses. I have a collection of them, too. They also used to put peanut butter in them and they came in flour (I don't remember that, but I got some pretty ones at a yard sale and she said that's where they came from). I've got a few of them. I love your old jars, too.

Dot your decorated glasses are so cute, And they all match something, you are fabulous! I'd still like to know where you store all these things! Anchor Hocking glass is in the town right next to me, about 9 miles away. Butchs parents worked there and so many family and friends too, Its a tough, very hard job making glass. The heat, the conveyor lines, such hard workers! They have been saying for years that the plant will close but it always defies the odds and stays open. In the same town is Mannington Mills, vinyl flooring. Have you heard of Mannington flooring? Butch worked there for 15 years. those 2 plants are our biggest employers, and also Dupont, which is 5 miles from us. Duh, I better get off here before I write a book! xoxoxo

Hi Dot!

I see your problem goes WAY beyond dishes! A little birdie (I won't tell her it was you Gloria!) stopped by to let me know you were in serious trouble AGAIN! I had no idea you were a GLASSAHOLIC too! You need some serious help, I mean serious!! Cherries and Berries and Fruit, oh my! I think we need to call some Dishaholic, Glassaholic, Whateveraholic Doctor in on this case! I'm sure we haven't heard the last of this people. She's eventually going to come out with something else, so you'd better stay tuned!

We'll have some counciling sessions when I see you in May sweetie! I'll be ok!

Big therapeutic hugs, Sherry

SIGHHHHHHHHH, if only I could find a poster of him "kissing the girl." It's the only romance I get to enjoy around here, LOL! You crack me up. How about an update on your little miracle baby? I'd love to see some new pictures of her. I love this picture of Sophie and remember you telling us how she was showing you how you should move your hips to dance (at least that's how I remember it, LOL!). Have a great weekend. I have posts prescheduled for next week and don't know if I'll be around much due to life happening, but I'll post it all as soon as I muddle through it (what serious blogger wouldn't?!) Cindy
