Just Playing In The House....

Hey guys...well Easter is almost here..it's a special time for rejoicing and being with family...hope each and everyone of you have the most blessed one yet! We have had a few days of wind and cool weather...actually alittle frost......but we did hear thunder a couple of times in Feb so we knew we'd have a couple of cold snaps in April.....hey I don't make this stuff up...it came from way back in my grandparents days!!!

So while I was forced to stay in the house I made some changes...I told you already we finished the picture frame molding in the foyer...living room..kitchen...dining room. I took the window treatments down and even took the toile fabric out of my glass front cabinets in the kitchen..still have it up in the little hutch for now...

I tell you I am loving my molding..it makes a huge difference...whether you are country or traditional..it just goes with everything!

Besides I have always loved the contrast of white with the other colors in a room!
They make even the tiniest areas look so nice!

Even your little cubbie holes!

Oh and if anyone is looking to buy new recliners...I highly recommend these from Ashley...the style is so mission...craftsmen..whatever but the more I sit in them the more comfy they feel....ohhhh I love them & I have never had a piece of leather anything in my house...but these are a keeper!
Now moving right along..you will notice I have taken the Island out of the kitchen...yes folks it is back in the shed and Bill has brought the little round table back in for me...in the warmer months our family gathers ALOT and I just like having more seating area for everyone... I shall have hardwood...I shall have hardwood..oh sorry...I just do so want some hardwood floors in here!!!!

Then I got to looking at the windows....so I went to Hobby Lobby and bought some black & tan checked fabric...30 % off and I made a rod opening with stitch witch...ironed it on and no hems or edges..just put it on the rod!

put the napkin treatment back on top and I'm happy with it for now!

Took the tablescape off the dining table and put it on the counter...yes I like alot of stuff around me.....

Turned the dining table around and put alittle arrangement on it with the old black tray and of course a chicken! Threw in my old wooden spools and some candles and sit it all on top of my treasured table mat that sweet Gloria sent me!!!!

See the moldings and just the plain panels......

I love tweaking and playing in the house and like I said my family are browsers and they take 'tours' everytime they come over!!!!! Gotta give em something to talk about!

I love my kitchen sink....it is a creamy white porcelain...real deep and the faucetts are that rubbed bronze ohhhhhh glory...those little beauties had to count for a birthday....anniversary....Mother's Day & Christmas!!!! lol

And I leave you with this little eyecandy....the knockout roses are starting to bloom....
See it peeking out thru the leaves...ohhhh glory!!!!!! They live!!!!! lol lol

Where ever you are and what ever you're doing I hope it has just been a glorious day for you...take care you guys...love ya!♥

I always enjoy visiting Picket's Place! So pretty and always changing! The finest gift or antique shops have nothing on you, girl! I love to tweak too, but sometimes it takes me days to decide where to put things.
As always, I leave your place inspired.
Have a very Happy & Blessed Easter!

Our knockouts are still brown and crunchy. I would say, that's a good thing. We've been under freeze warnings all week. My granddad always said thunder in Feb frost in May.

I love all the changes you are making. Beautiful!!

Dot, I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy reading your blog! I feel like I could just walk in, grab a glass of 'sweet tea' or cup of coffee and sit and just talk and talk with you for hours - as if we'd known each other forever!

My hubby grew up in 'the valley' area of Alabama, and one of my very best friends lives in Dothan, so your home state holds a little piece of my heart! Besides, we are actually just neighbors, you know!

Have a blessed Easter, and thanke for keeping me laughing! Becky G.

Hello dear Dot, I am having a time getting to all of my dear blogging friends this week. Thank you so much for your many kind comments about Beth and my Grandsons. I love you for your uplifting words at a time when we are so sad. There is peace in knowing she isn't suffering anymore and with our Lord.

I loved all your tweaking in your kitchen. The molding is outstanding. The curtains are wonderful and the table in the kitchen makes so much sense. I want wood floors too. No budget for that now. Now if only Obama can save the stock market I would like him a whole lot more!!!!! He did repeat several times to America's issues, "Yes I can." So do it! LOL. Maybe now he realizes what a hard job it is to run a country. How did I get so political BIG Smile!

Ok, off the soapbox. I have to run and get ready for therapy on my new knee. This is so old by now. A must though.

Love you Dot...Jeanne

Hi Dot!

Your chair rail is FABULOUS! What a difference it makes! It had to take a lot of measuring & figuring for it to all come out right. My hats off to Bill! He did a great job. It looks very classy Dot. Your kitchen is so versatile too. So nice you can put an extra table in there for summer.
Oh your roses look so beautiful! We're glad to have 2 daffodils blooming up here. Maybe someday we too will see the roses again LOL!

Dearest Dot... Happy Easter! I've been offline all week as we've had quite a go of it with my friend's mom who has now gone home to be with the Lord. She looked so peaceful at the end. I'm going to post about it later, but I'm trying to make some blog rounds. Love seeing your pretty house, sweetest Dot, and I will be back to really take a closer look later. Love the new curtain fabric, the treatment over the sink, the bronze faucet, the molding... all of it. You've done a good job. Take a bow for your hard work!

Happy Easter to you and yours...

XO,

Sheila :-)

Here I am--the cow's tail again, but I've enjoyed a quick catch up! Knockout roses, old quilts, and the theme of blue--some of my favorite things, inside and out. You need to be producing a television show, Picket!! (Is that old quilt from Aunt Annie Bell? I'm going to show her the blog again the next time I'm there.i couldn't recognize the one from Mama, but I'm glad you have it.) Keep on entertaining us with your skills! Love, Aunt Kat
