My Favorite Corners...With A Little Blue

Morning guys!!! I hope y'all had a great weekend....I had such a great time reading y'all's comments on my last post! lol That was a little green lizard on the one birdhouse and he comes out in the mornings and he will turn whatever color of the object he sits on...he was actually green just a minute before I took his picture! lol

Today I want to share some of my favorite little corners with you...I never realized I had so much blue hiding in the house! Sally don't go getting any ideas...I'm not a blue person...this just happens to be Blue Monday & I just happen to be showing some things that have a little blue in them....

This corner has some of my favorite things.....the curio is filled with blue & white Currier & Ives dishes...like the ones my grandmother and aunts use to win at the fair by throwing nickles in the plates! (Sherry!!!!! Don't say it!!!)

You can also see the old mirror hanging on the wall..it was my Mama Bush's....in the mirror you can see a reflection of another quilt with some blue in it...the quilt rack holds a quilt my Maw Smith made before I was ever born and the one with the blue stars was a birthday gift from mama many years ago..the old rocker was Mama Bush's also.

Below you can see that quilt that reflected in the mirror....my Aunt made that many years ago and gave it to me..look at all the blue in it ....I love how it has so many strips of fabric in it.

This little corner below has two cross stitched pictures I did back in the 80's...the old roosters are plaster and I painted them in the 70's...they have blue on them even! That old corn cutter is as old as Moses...Mama got it from little Mrs. Hamner back when I was a girl and Mrs. Hamner had used it since she was a young bride...ohhhh weee we splattered some walls with corn using that thing...matter of fact we splattered walls..curtains....windows....when you put of over 200 quarts of cream corn in the freezer every year...it's bound to get messy!

look how sweet those little chickens and ducks look in front of all those little quilts hanging on a fence post....I know I could change out the color ruffle but it just reminds me of who & where I was at the time..

This below is what I call the chicken coop...it is made out of old barn wood and and old window frame & it even has a rusty tin roof with chicken wire in the front...I keep one set of my blue mason jars in there...

I love old tin signs...never paid any attention to how much blue they had in them...

So there you have it....just a few of my favorite corners...that just happen to have a little blue in them....but if you really want to feast your eyes on some pretty blues go on over to Sally's for Blue Monday....just click here.

We got a new week started....lets enjoy every minute of it! Love you guys!♥

Mornin' Darlin!

Girl...you might not want to hear it but you sure do have an awful lot of blue at your place!!! Hehe! And...the photos prove it!!! You know, I hardly have anything blue due to all of the blue that I used in the 80's...hehe! I mean, even my sofa and loveseat was blue! It's growin' on me again, though! Last summer I redid my master bedroom in seaside blue! I love that aqua!!!

I always enjoy looking at your quilts...you have some of the prettiest that I've seen! Such treasures too!!! Love your Currier and Ives dishes! I have a few and need to work on completing the set...wink! Thank you so much for sharing your blue pretties today, Sweetie! Loved them all! Oh yes, I just adore your little shelf with the chicken wire...and those pretty blue mason jars...ahhh!!!

Have a marvelous Monday, Sweetie!
Love ya,
Chari

Happy Monday Dot! A few years ago, I collected many blue & white apltes. I didn't want any that were the same. I can't believe how many I found! Then a friend gave me a ton of the old Currier & Ives blue & white plates, saucers & bowls. I love all the different scenes on them, especially the ones with children, log cabins and snow scenes! I finally decided to pass them on to one of my older sisters. She has just started to collect blue & white for her new home. So she was thrilled with all the stuff I gave her.
I think we probably all have some blue in our homes. I know I do. I love blue! Even though I prefer autumn colors in my home. I still have some blue that I can't part with.
I always enjoy looking at your pics and reading your posts.
I hope you have a great week!

Hey Picket,
Just had to laugh... those
Currier and Ives plates were the first plates I owned as a married woman. My Mom gave me her green stamps and I went over to pick out my dishes with them.
(So much for registering for fine china...)
But I just love them and I guess they are what started me on my collection of blue and white.

Everybody needs a little blue in their house! I loved seeing yours. This weekend I made your blackberry cobbler -- thinking it was for ME!!!!! It's my favorite cobbler and sometimes I go to Cracker Barrel just to have some. My husband had asked for some brownies that I got for him -- well guess who ate most of the cobbler and HIS brownies are still untouched! Thanks for the great recipe -- I had made a small batch, but next time I may make a double batch - since I'm getting so much "help" in eating it up!

I could envision all the corn cutting, family memories and laughter which went along with the making the cream corn. Then the major cleaning up after wards...
Beautiful corners!

Thanks again for your precious prayer. I know all of them were heard and answered.
Enjoy a fabulous and fun week!

Wonderful blue choices! When I had an antiques shop many years ago, I sold some pieces of the Currier and Ives china to a woman. She came back to see if I had more, and told me about how her mother had recently passed and she inherited her china cabinet but someone else got the china. I had a full set at home and sold it to her. It always makes me smile...since then, I put together another set for myself.

I also love your cross stitch (I love to do those, mostly stamped samplers though) and the painted roosters (my late mother loved to paint ceramics). Tin signs are sooo retro and soooo in!!

Thanks fr sharing your blues! Stop by some time!

Hi Dot- I love it when you post pictures of your home and yard - both are so nice - so many special touches you give it. Looking at the pics of your home - I see so many items that either, me or my Mom have and have used through the years -some are stored in sheds - just as you do - until we need to redo a room - or change things up.

Take care - I really appreciate you stopping by my blog - I dont' get a lot of traffic and a lot of family members just read it and are " too chicken " to comment on it. LOL!

Our primary goal is to produce custom products for customers to retail or use in promotions. We also produce a range of stock products and graphics for wholesale or retail.
We design and make our signs in the United States using 24 gauge American steel and a process known as sublimation, where the image is baked into a powder coating for a durable and long lasting finish. We then perform a vintaging process by hand to give this sign an aged look and feel. The edges of this sign are rounded for extra rigidity and the corners are drilled and riveted for easy hanging.

I'm running WAY late on my Blue Monday visits this week, but wanted to be sure to say hello and tell you how much I love the blue canning jars ... and also the shelf they're on!

Your Wednesday post is totally cool ... sepia pics that turn to color halfway through. Kinda like The Wizard of Oz :o)

I've been searching for tan and black checked fabric like your's for several weeks now, with no luck. Bakersfield is so far from everything (100 miles in 3 directions to the nearest larger city, and to the east there's nothing but the Mojave Desert until you get to Las Vegas, 5 hours away). And now the sentence got too long, good grief ... was saying we're so far away from other towns/cities that it's a 1 to 2 hour drive to get anywhere near a decent mall (ours is awful). Guess I'll have to head to Houston or Memphis to visit relatives and check out Hob Lob for myself one of these days.

Stop by when you get a chance, I'm doing 30 Days of Junkin' posts this month and it's an open celebration. I'd love to have you link to one or more of your old posts about trash to treasure decorating, thrift store finds, of anything else having to do with All Things Junk. You could even write a new post if you like :o)

Have a great weekend!
