I have always admired anyone that could create handmade things...but I adore embroidery...so last week when I saw this pic on our very own Theresa's blog @ Take A Sentimental Journey
I just froze sitting there staring at the screen....Theresa said she had made 3 sets of these beautiful pillowcases...white on white....look at her picture below....the detail and all those little stitches made by her own sweet hands....it speaks to me....
I know some folks are drawn to big mansions...diamonds...fancy clothes...and I'm not saying there is anything wrong with that..different things speak to different people.....but I have always been alittle different...I squeal and cry when I see the first bloom of Spring....I choke when I see my grandbabies run in the door....I can hold a baby chick and tears will pour down my face from the joy of my childhood...different things speak to my heart.....and these speak to me.

36 lil sweet taters came by...:
They ARE beautiful! I am going to check out her blog. Have a great week.

Those are beautiful Dot. And I agree...Theresa is a very sweet lady.
Blogging has enriched my life so much by all the wonderful friends I've made!
Hope you have a great Monday!
And you speak to my heart, Dot! You always have! This is a dear from-the-heart post, and I loved every word. And yes, Theresa is a sweetheart and very talented. I loved those pillowcases, too. They reminded me of the ones that my grandmother used to emroider for us when we were young. She loved to do emroidery, and she would also embroider the edges of receiving blankets, too.
And Dot, those types of memories make us rich beyond words. I wouldn't trade one single memory of my sweet, precious grandmother for all the tea in China. That's the real wealth in life. You've got your head on straight and your heart filled to overflowing, girl, and that is one of a myriad of reasons I love you so much...
XO,
Sheila :-)
Oh I do hope you don't mind my tears are running all over the keyboard ,they are just so beautiful.
I have one set of pillow cases my great aunt Easter embroidered and I treasure them .they mean so much .These just blow me away they are so exquisite looking.
Wow I can't imagine anyone with the skill today to do this kind of work.

They are so pretty!
I understand about the tears. I can shed them so easily, even easier with each passing year.
I cry all morning Thanksgiving...watching the parades. My family thinks I am nuts, but it just floods me with memories.
Enjoy your beautiful pillowcases. I still say, we have got to be related somehow!!
These types of things speak to my heart too. In fact, I was just over at Scooter's blog (Rhonda) and was so moved by her words. It actually moved me to make up my mind about something that had been tumbling around inside my head. I think the older I get the more the things of the world don't matter so much to me, but friendships, and things made by loving hands, my family, and of course my little Savannah bring my feelings very close to the surface. I'm not a crier but I feel things deep in my soul and I cherish them. Thanks for your words. I'll have to check out her blog. You have a great week too Picket.
You are right. Those are truly beautiful!
Have a great day, Denise
Beautiful handwork - countless hours went into those pillow cases.
Are they going on the new bed?
Enjoy your week - take up a new hobby - perhaps embroidery work.
Oh Dot, I can absolutely see why these pillow cases spoke to you! They are absolutely GORGEOUS, and wow does that woman have talent! I could never have the patience to do something so detail-oriented. But wow, look how the patience pays off! Enjoy them, sweet friend.
Justine :o )
Dot, I totally agree, I feel as if the earth is spinning faster and faster the older I get, I would like it to slow down darn it.
It is amazing how much talent so many people have, and to have the patience to make something so beautiful it truly remarkable. Thanks for sharing I am going to check out the blog now! Have a great week! Sue
I too find myself drawn to things of my past. I love these pillowcases. My mother did things like that. Memories.....cherish every one. Great post. Debbie

Those are just beautiful! I agree about simpler things having a bigger tug on my heart, especially as the years go on.
they are so pretty! glad you were able to get them
Hi Dot, the pillowcases are beyond gorgeous....precious.
Your post is so gentle and sweet!!
Barb
It's really the simple things that are important in life. I choke up about the same things that you do.
Theresa is so sweet. Her gift to you was something she knew you would love and appreciate.
You brought back some memories for me of some pieces my mom has that my grandmother hand stitched. They were to be used to make a blanket but the project never got that far.
Dot I just have to say that I love reading what you write. Not just what you write about but how you write it. You show such passion and love in every thought you put down in type. I can feel the tenderness and devotion you have for your family and friends in every blog you post. I can see God thru you in the way you speak of his blessings bestowed upon you and your life. Bless you for being the wonderful and warm person that I know you are.
Have a wonderful week.

Everybody in Blogville is asking Theresa for that third pillowcase!
Are you going to frame both of them? Never use them to sleep on? Oh, I think you should use them first, just for the luxury of it.
Theresa is the most generous lady!
Oh Picket, these are just gorgeous!
I love pillowcases and vintage linens too. I will check out her blog.
Oh Dot, the pillow cases and your words are both beautiful. When one speaks from the heart their words are like painting an image and you do that.
I too love vintage linens and I know what you mean about getting older and days flying by, I try to fill every minute of my days with things I enjoy.
Wishing you a beautiful day,
Martha ♥
What a heartfelt post ... I loved reading every word.
My grandmothers, mother and great grandmothers all embroidered ... a talent I did NOT inherit. My poor old arthritic fingers couldn't manage any of it at this point in my life.
Enjoy this week, Ms. Picket!
Oh Dot !! Now you got me to bawlin too !
You are just the sweetest lady. Reading this post about the pillow cases has made my head swell so big I'm afraid it's going to bust! Oh and I didn't make 3 sets of those . You my darlin have the one and ONLY exclusive pair I stitched ! I want to see them when you get them in the shadow boxes.
Hey It's me again Margaret ! LOL .
I had to come and clarify myself . I bought 3 more pairs ,but they are all different . Yours is the only one with the southern belle on it .
I didn't want you give me a whoppin'
I am still loving Each and Every post you make. I love your pillowcases and they remind me of the ones my Grandmother did back in the 1940s and 1950s. She did hers in colors. I have never seen all white before.
I checked out Teresa's blog and love it, too.
Thanks for writing such a great, homey-type blog. You are one of my FAVORITES!

Mornin Dot! The pillowcases are so beautiful! You really should enjoy them on the bed as pillow shams, just for looks! I love the white on white. It really is the simple pleasures, I'm a simple, no frills girl just like you my sis! Have a fabulous week sweetie, hope you aren't as hot as we are up here, its been in the 90's and will be for 2 more days! YUK!!! xoxoxo
Those are beautiful pillowcases! How sweet that she agreed to sell them to you! I know that they are extra precious to you.
I am someone who appreciates the simple things too. I can find joy in all kinds of things. I know plenty of people who have a lot of money and expensive things, but they aren't necessarily happier.
It's funny how people have different perspectives on the same thing. I love going to Parade of Home tours and every year they have one in northeast Indiana, which is not that far a drive from me. My ex and I would go together when we were married, and he came home depressed after the tours one year. He said it was because it made him realize we could never have those beautiful homes full of beautiful things. He asked if it did the same to me. No way! I said that I simply enjoyed looking at them and getting ideas of how to make my own home more beautiful! Geesh, some guys!

Dot, those are beautiful! I have a pair of embroidered pillowcases that my momma make and I will cherish them forever. I love the white on white it so classic.
I just wanted to say you are such a special person Dot. I truly LUV reading your blogposts. I don't care what you blog about something you say in every blog always touches my heart. Don't take this the wrong way....you're just like a greeting card. When I pick out a card for someone it has to say the perfect thing I want it to say and it has to be something I feel in my heart and to me that's how you write, as if you are a greeting card. Ok, that probably makes no sense at all to you. But trust me, it is a compliment!
Dear Ms. Dot,
Your post absolutely blessed my heart. I am so much like you. I often wonder if others cherish the sights of charming birds from the trees and other simple sides of life. I am so thankful that you shared your heart. Your new pillow cases are precious. What a treasure you have as well as a very special friendship!
Sincerely ~ Tricia Anne
