It's Friday & The Paint's Dry!

Morning guys! It's Friday...we made it thru the week! lol We got so much done this week. I had told baby girl (Jen) that I was gonna start doing little special things for myself that I always wanted to do but just never made it a top thing on my list...like buy just simple little bouquets of flowers at the grocery each week for the kitchen....I have always loved fresh flowers....not really roses...just plain wild flowers or country flowers as I called them...the sweet little toot came walking in the other day with this huge bunch and said "Here Mom...this will get you jump started!" lol I had to run find my little creamy white vase I got at Michaels on clearance...I had hid it from myself! lol

I finished painting the lower cabinets in the kitchen.....ohhhhh glory....do you even have to ask do I love them!!!!!

I had thought I would sand the edges and distress them...I tried that on one door & hated it....I grabbed the paint brush and fixed that little problem!

Usually I sand all the edges of anything I paint black....but for some reason I just love these solid.
I am loving the look of the two different colors of cabinets....the top ones are still the creamy white with the mocha glaze...

I didn't know how Bill would react to the cabinets being black but when he came home and saw them he loved them! He told me that if I ever decided to paint the top ones black also that he wouldn't mind...(the sweet thing...like I would even ask if he minded before I painted them! ) Did I just say that! lol lol

Remember here while back I showed you this old silver tray I bought at the Antique Mall for just a few dollars...I knew I would do something with it one day...I am not a silver and crystal kind of gal...
Well....yesterday while Bill was getting ready to cut the grass I had him to look in the shed and see if we had any black spray paint (of course his first reaction was to turn pale and say "you ain't gonna be spray painting something in the house are you!!!!)
This is what I created....ohhhhhh look at that sweet little tray with the feet! When it dried...I wanted to try it out...so I thought I'd fix Bill a special snack for lunch...a toasted turkey sandwich & some tea....
Well of course being the blogger in training that I am...I immediately begin to do my little tablescape (yes pickles & tomatoes can be a tablescape)...I set it up on the back porch....swiped a few flowers from my kitchen vase...hollered for Bill to come take a break and ran and got my camera...
I got back on the porch just in time to yell "DON'T TOUCH IT!" I gotta take a picture first for the blog..he was about to mess up my arrangement and I don't think it would have been as pretty with a big bite mark on the sandwich! Just look what a sweet tray it makes now that it is all 'Picket" and black!
Oh and while he finished up the yard I ran in the house and snatched the old black quilt rack off the wall....I had bought some 'oops' paint at Home Depot for $1 here while back...it is a gorgeous shade of sage green...I knew I wanted to make the old rack a little more cottagey.... I am loving this look...So that's been my week here in Picketville...hope yours has been just as much fun...take care everyone and have a fantastic weekend~~~♥~~~

I was so happy to see your comment. My! It has been a while. I see that you've been cleaning, painting, and fixing. You've been busy.

I'm still packing--and packing. Salvation Army is getting plenty of good things to sell to bloggers. Won't it be fun for me to see something I once had getting painted?

You are always so busy you amaze me. Your cabinets are gorgeous. Show us a wide shot...I can tell it's all perfect.

You just made me laugh with Bill's lunch. Poor guy has to wait for the blog picture. Something tells me he doesn't really mind.

Happy Friday!

I hope when I move to AL that I have a neighbor like you close by. Second thought, you move to AL and be my neighbor.

Have a good one.

Dot you even display your food in a beautiful way. Do your talents have no end?? I love love love your cupboards. Someday I will have mine painted but for now I will keep them as they are. I think my hubby just might divorce me if I suggested something like that to him. I'll have to work on him a bit more.
Flowers are so inexpensive and they make you feel so good don't they. My daughter picks me a wild flower bouquet a couple of times a week from our hillside now that they are in full bloom. They perk up the whole livingroom.
Enjoy your weekend.

Anyways, I love your cabinets!

Your cabinets are beautiful, Dot, and look like they were professionally done ... and I love the tray! I see really pretty and ornate silver trays that are tarnished beyond hope at flea markets, and you can be sure from now on I'll be looking at them with the idea of painting them in mind. Great idea! ... but then, you always have great ideas.

P.S. Thanks so much for dropping by for lemonade on the porch! Girl, Thanks for all you said too...You know I've always loved your cozy white porch. I was hoping you'd get a chance to stop over to see what we did to the porch...I could hardly wait to show you everything! I do remember your shed (How could I forget the shed from RMS, the shed you stashed all of the decorating goodies in, for changing out things....when the notion strikes, LOL! I've got one of those too, my friend, LOL! and I remember your porch, cute as can be...how you and Bill even put a little porch on your shed...I loved that!
I think what you had in mind for it would look so pretty, but I think it's looks great natural too, Especially for those Burly Boys. I bet Bill would go for any idea you have up your sleeve though. He's a great sport!
I'll run along now...

Everything looks great! I love the flowers and the cabinets. We've been painting, too. We had carpet put in our bedroom Wednesday and with everything moved out I saw how awful the walls looked.
I went and got paint while they finished the carpet. My husband said "I wasn't planning on painting, too. I'd like to get the furniture back in before midnight." Well, we painted and got the very big and heavy furniture back in before midnight. Glad we don't do this very often!

Dot, Thursday and Friday we ran hither and yon. Therefore, my visiting took a back seat. As I have my English Muffin, this morning, before we leave for the lake, I decided to visit a bit.

I love your cabinets! I thought about "distressing" the island when it was painted, but it just did not work for me. You made the right decision, when you left them the way they are.

Those flowers your daughter brought should last a week or 10 days. I love that flower. It's so longlasting. I'm taking a grocery store bouquet to the condo.

It's more running hither and yon for us today. I'm moving slow, though...allergies are still around and a benadryl before bed, last night has me slightly lethargic this morning.

I hope to do more visiting during our do nothin' days, over the weekend!

Have a great weekend!

WOW, what a kitchen. You have fabulous taste. I just had mine done in a yellow, and wanted to glaze them. Then men told me I couldn't because they used an oil based paint, and it wouldn't work. :-( I'll figure something out.
You have the neatest blog and I usually just read the current post. I have been reading it all now, and I love it. I think it was Laurie who told me to get over here and say Hi to you. So, Hi Picket ! I'm Connie, the other Connie, as I am told. There are two of us here now. I have a blog and I spend way too much fooling around with it ~~ days like this when it's raining. I have my sidebar all upside down and mixed up now. When I move the categories in the dashboard they flip back to wherever they were. Ah, such fun. ( I also ramble on too much at times).
Just wanted to say hi and tell you your blog is so good and I love your home.
