Rainy Day & New Project....

Hey guys...just taking a break....it has been raining all day here so I have been doing around inside....we had a fantastic weekend....I actually have laughed and been more my old self this weekend....
Sunday...little Sofie had her dance recital at the old Bama Theater....I use to go there with my bottle caps on Saturdays when I was a little girl and watch the movies....As we were waiting for the program to start I was just flooded with memories....I leaned over to Bill and whispered "Doesn't this bring back memories?" He whispered back "Of what?" I whispered "Don't you remember?" He whispered "What is there to remember...I've never been here before in my life" At that moment all whispers were off!!!!!! I yelled "That's it...we're signing divorce papers in the morning!!!"...then I yelled down to where Jen was sitting..."JEN!!! I'm leaving your dad!!!"Our whole section was all ears by that time! How on earth could the man forget...August.. 1968...he drove up for our very first date in his little blue convertable Triumph...kissed me under the big oak tree in front of the house...took me to see a movie at THE OLD BAMA THEATER....the movie was 'The Night The Lights Went Out....ohhhhhh the horror!!!! Of course the whole family is rolling in laughing maddness by now!!!!!
But it was his birthday so I had to forgive him...so since the whole family was gathering for the big cookout Monday he wanted to celebrate his birthday with just the two of us so I cooked him a special supper..Chicken with Creamy Bruschetta Pasta & Spinach Salad with Strawberry Pie for dessert...ohhhh it was so good...got the recipes from Publix...I'll share them on another post!
Have you noticed the pictures yet!!!!!I had bought these lamps before losing Maggie....I just loved the color...Y'all know how I love my amber things....lordy knows I cherish my amber cloche that Gloria sent me all the way from California..... I wanted to add some soft country cottage to the Living room and I knew these lamps were perfect and then I found the pillows at K-Mart...The lamps came from a local store where I buy my wicker...they were half price and the color is just soooooo...oh I don't know what it is but it is....Then I found these balls at Michaels and just look how that one is the exact same coloring as the lamps!!!! I had also ordered 2 of these lamps from JC Penney...I love the country cottagey look of them with the birds...they are half price right now and mine are on back order and won't get here til August!
Man this post is long....sorry guys...I have just been away so long and I have been so busy trying to keep occupied...thank you again for all your sweet comments and love on the loss of my little Maggie.... Well I better get back to my project....the war zone again!!!!...Can you guess what I'm doing today....oh like you didn't know that was coming!!!!! Have a glorious week you guys....and in case no one has told you today...I love you guys...you are just the best! ~~~♥~~~

It's so good to see you "back in action," Dot! I love your lamps and pillows and can't wait to see what you're doing to your cabinets. They look great as they are!

I'm sure you're taking one day at a time right now, but I'm so glad you're feeling like doing some things. It helps to stay busy, doesn't it.

Oh, everything is looking great!!! I love the lamp color and the pillows and those little ball decorations.

I love those Linden Street bird lamps! I have seen them before and thought they were awesome! I'm not surprised that they are so popular. Hopefully you'll get them before August!

Sounds like a great dinner for your hubby. Oh, and kick him one for me for not remembering that you had your first date at that theater! lol Silly men, we remember every little detail, while I think they only remember if they scored a kiss or not!

Oh my goodness, are you painting your kitchen cabinets? Wow!

Oh, your story about what happened at the theater nearly made me piddle! Men~can't live with them and can't live with them!!! I'm happy he had a nice birthday though.

I just love all your new beautiful things. The lamps are such a pretty shade of blue and the pillows add a nice pulled together touch. Thanks for the "heads up" on the lamp from Penney's. If it wasn't on backorder I'd be ordering mine now! Very "gift shop" looking!!

Have a wonderful week, Picket!

Hi Picket, soooo glad you are doing better. My dad has been in the hospital and right now I am feeling so thankful for answered prayers. Just to see him back at home fills my heart to overflowing. Girl, I KNOW those can't be your KITCHEN??? cabinets? I don't know where you get all that energy, you are amazing. LOVE those new cottage accessories, they are so YOU (and me, ha). That touch of green is just perfect. I am beginning to love my rusty red color with that jadeite green. And I'm finally to a place with decorating that if I love it, then it's OK. Talk soon, friend.

Okay, so I'm the bad one in our relationship. When Larry proposed I can't for the life of me remember what he said. All either of us remember is that I said "heck, NO!" I was mad bz he didn't get down on one knee like I had always dreamed about. Well, we both knew that I was teasing and we got married anyway. We laugh about the fact that we don't think I ever said yes when he asked me to marry him!! I really should have written it down in my journal! Glad to see you back!

Sending you much love through the raindrops that keep falling here in Florida. We are growing gills! Annie is wearing a wet suit, now! LOL!

Oh, Picket, I am glad you are in better spirits. Your bama theater story is hilarious. I can't say anything because I am the one with the terrible memory.

I can't wait to see your cabinets. I love black cabinets and would do it myself if my kitchen were not so small. It would look like a cave at my house. I am thinking of going green like maybe the color of your lamps. Although, I do love white too. Regardless, it is my next project.

I hope you have a great day and you have been missed.

Betty said...

Well I am sure glad you decided to forgive your hubby, he would just be in trouble without you! Who would remember things for him?
We had problems with our well this past weekend, ended up having to pull the pipe up and replace the check valve but so thankful that we didn't have to drill a new well.

I love your new lamps and pillows...and CAN NOT wait to see your cabinets. You amaze me. I would be so afraid to tackle a project that big. Hurry and finish so we can see some pictures. I thought about you yesterday. We travel 59 on the way to Louisiana and each time I see the sign heading your way YOU come to mind. I'm happy that you are feeling better. It helps to stay busy...maybe that's why you are doing those cabinets now!

Kris said...

I cracked up at your husband not remembering!!! Mine is the SAME way. I will mention some little something that was special to me some 30 years ago....thinking he would surely remember it too....NOPE! But ask him about any hole, on any golf course, of any month, or year, or day, and he can tell you EXACTLY how he played it! Butt head!

Oh my gosh Dot, you're painting your cabinets again?? You must be on a first name basis with all the people at your local paint store! Glad you were able to have a good weekend!
