Sunday we all gathered together for dinner and I called the hospital where she was and we all took turns passing the phone around talking to Ashley...her aunts & uncles...cousins..grandparents and great grandparents..ohhhh it was so sweet!!!! They are gonna try and come down this summer and stay a week!
Now remember the toile? Okay...remember I told you I swapped out some rooms and I was gonna paint the yellow bedroom...well it just about did me in but oh glory it is painted!!!!!
Here is handsome assistant taping it off for me...no there was nothing wrong with the yellow..but I knew I wanted the color I used in the kitchen...it is my favorite of all colors..Deer Path by Benjamin Moore...I had already painted the bottom half the creamy white...cause I will eventually put the picture frame molding in there.
I just love this color.....it goes with anything!!!!
See that wall over there behind the tall curio? I had a 'beam me up Jesus' moment over there! See I just always pull the furniture to the middle of the room and stand in a chair and cut in and then roll the paint...two coats! Ok...the first coat is dry ...I am behind the curio...tight quarters....and I go to stand up in the chair...roller in hand...I get one foot planted and I go to get the other foot up...welllllll...just at that very moment....my hiney decided it was gonna take a break but it didn't bother to inform the rest of my body...so in slow motion the scales of my weight shifted backwards..one foot still planted on the chair....other foot doing a one legged dance backwards and I am trying to follow it and the roller arm is flying everywhere and I am thinking..'Not the sleigh bed..not the sleigh bed!' then my free arm slams into that tall curio and it starts tilting forward toward the bed and it is loaded with my collection of Cherished Teddies!!!!....Needless to say all was spared except my backside as I fell up against the wall!!!! ('Note to self...I HATE PAINTING!!!')
So I put the iron bed in the room....(sleigh bed is in the shed now...just don't tell the kids) I got the dream sign at Hobby Lobby...half price! I knew I wanted it over the bed and of course the creamy plates!!!! Poor Bill still can not for the life of him figure out why we put plates on the wall!
Then I was on the search for a nightstand...I had seen this one weeks ago at Hobby Lobby and loved it...it is the same pattern as my foyer table only this year they made them darker and it goes perfect with my toile set..but they never would put it on sale...I went back today and there was only one left and it was 40% off! They little beauty was paid for and in my car before Bill realized we had even started shopping! lol lol

48 lil sweet taters came by...:
It sure is looking pretty at your house! Keep us up with the progress - but I'm sure you'll enjoy dreaming in that new bed tonight!
Looking good from my side of the porch...keep on showing us the pictures.
I bet the paint dance was something else...I suppose your sweet husband probably had a laugh or two when you told him.
Enjoy the blessings from above.
You were thinking not the bed and I am thinking, don't knock over the curio!!! Glad all was saved...well almost all!!
The color is fantastic. Room is so pretty.
Oh my so many blessings ,such a joy to see all the photos of your progress.
I really love the way you have shared all the many little steps you are taking with your blog viewers. You have a real talent for decorating. It is so much fun to see it all unfold.

You had quite a few adventures while painting the room but it turned out beautiful. I will have to remember that color~Deer Path... it really is nice and neutral and looks so good with the crisp white.
I will have to look at Hobby Lobby for those nightstands. I need one and I like those little shuttered doors.
Have a great week! :-D
xoxo

Oh Dot, this room is coming out fabulous!!!!!!! I can see why you adore that color. it's so rich and warm! The nightstand is perfect too!
My goodness, you really could have been hurt when you kind of fell off the chair. Dang that hiney for disobeying your orders!
Justine :o )
wow! everything looks gorgeous! love that color!
I'll tell ya girlfriend, ya leave me in stitches. Had it in the car before hubby even knew we were shopping! Oh, how I love you and your humor. The room looks WONDERFUL!
Girl, that looks good enough to eat! I ordered the same one but in the creme and black cause I already had the matching curtains. I also have a black iron bed, the walls are a pretty golden color and I'm using a black dresser. It's not quite "there" yet but I'm loving that comforter set from Penney's and ya can't beat that price either! I'll try and post pics later. Got some furniture moving to do in there (sometime)....
Hugs!
Judy
Oh, and the paint dance story, that's why I don't paint anymore!
Judy
Ms. Picket, if you don't mind, I'd love to know the name of the color yellow that you painted over... I like the Deer Path, it looks great! But I've been on the lookout for a good creamy happy yellow...
Oh that's just beautiful! I love that paint color. It is exactly what I'd love to paint in my kitchen if my landlord would let me (he won't). Those white plates on the wall are just lovely. I sure do understand why you put plates on the wall because I do it too!
Stop by my blog and see my latest posting! Your name is mentioned. I think you will really like my plates. I think they are the same as some in your collection.

Hi Dot, I pop over to see you and find that not only do you FINALLY have toile in your bedroom but you've gone and added family members! Congratulations Sweetie! I'm so happy for you. Glad everyone is fine and particularly glad that you didn't break your neck! That's why I don't paint. I'm not so graceful and I don't want to break a hip! Can't wait to see what else you do with your bedroom. So far, I give you an A+ and 5*****s!
That looks exquistite! I love the color with the crisp white. And it's perfect with the toile...nice and soft and soothing. You really did an amazing job! And I'm so glad your teddy's were spared!
Hi Dot, yep I am still alive and kicking.(carefully with my new knee) Congratulations to Ashley, you and your family on baby Eli having a safe arrival. I am so happy for everyone.
The bedroom is looking beautiful. I love everything you did. I do not love that you singlehandedly tried to kill off your cherished teddies and your buttocks too. All's well that ends well.
I hate to paint too, but I love the results. BIG smile.
Love and hugs...Jeanne
love the wall color. And that bedding is a favorite. everyone thinks i love to paint but secretly i hate it. I have a permanent bulge on my upper , ok under my butt from falling off a ladder. What was i doing you ask? Painting.... mishelle
Your room looks great. My Bill would be the same with plates on the wall. Think it is a "Bill" thing? Nah, probably most men don't get it. :)
Darling lil room, Love the pretty bed set!
Things are looking great here, Dot. Oh, how I love re-doing rooms and oh, how I HATE painting. I'll swear, I have done MORE painting than anyone in the world and hate every minute of it!! Sure love the end results, tho!!
You are doing a fabulous job on your bedroom....
OOOH Miss Dot, That is looking gorgeous! I have always admired that toile from penney's! Love it all! Nancy
I am so glad you didn't fall all the way and hurt yourself! I love the room. I too hate to paint. Why do you think it takes me so long to finish projects in rooms? I just would rather do anything than paint!! I know, I know....I'll get off my tail and finish the painting but right now I have the excuse of the wedding and the mission, LOL! Maybe you could come visit me and paint with me, that might make it more bearable!! SIGH, I do so hate to paint but I love how your painting turns out and transforms a room. Don't panic if you go to the bed and that sleigh bed is gone, it just came to visit me for awhile! LOL! Take care little tater.
Make that "go to the shed" not "go to the bed." Sheesh.
It looks great. I want to come stay for a week in that room. I am glad your grand daughter and baby boy are now at home and all is well.
You probably already know this but you can go to hobbylobby.com/ and print off 40% off coupons. We have done that several times before going just in case.LOL
It is sure pretty! I love the bed. Thanks for name and brand of the color. I want to paint my bedroom this year and I have admired your wall color. Almost everything in my house has been green, and my husband tells everyone I am in my green phase, I still like green and will keep some. After all winters in Michigan can be awful drab and I need some color some wheres!
Betty
Thanks for coming to my blog & offering your extra gallon of paint! That's so sweet. I'd take a trip down south just to pick it up from you---and meet you, and admire your house ;) and have you cook up some good food! I'm headed to BM for a Hawthorne swatch, cause I really think that could be "the one"! A long time ago, I had a pretty color called french vanilla, but painted over it. That was about 9 years ago & I've never found anything similar! Have a great, blessed day!
OH, Dot! I love it! So, so, SO wonderful! You did good, girlfriend! REAL good!
Love you...
XO,
Sheila :-)
Dot, where have I been?? I didn't know you posted all this good stuff on Tuesday!! DUH, I'm losing it! LOL!! Girl the bedroom looks fabulous, I just love that bed so much and the toile with the new paint color looks beautiful!! Dot please get yourself a step ladder the next time you are out buying paint! You are gonna fall and break a leg or arm if you keep standing on chairs! I'm gonna have to call Bill and tell him to get the ladder if you don't! Oh and the end table is so pretty in there too. Now I wanna do my bedroom over, Its been so long. I always leave it for last. I'm in a funk right now, I guess its because I have no time anymore. Now I'm gonna start feeling sorry for myself! I hope you get to see the new baby this summer and I hope you have a wonderful and Happy Mothers Day!! Love ya Dot!! xoxoxo
Well, I sure am glad you survived. Whew!!!
And, the room looks great. I love the new nightstand.
Hi, Dot, oh girl, I just love your toile room, it's so pretty. And I know about Deer Path too, used it in a client's home one time. Pretty color! You are going to town.
Love the color! The room is looking great! I was helping to push you back up as I was reading your adventure with falling. :) I can easily see myself doing that! My theory on painting? Take young married son/wife shopping, buy them something, and then have THEM paint for me as payment. Works for me AND them!
Dot,
Hope your back side is better...you silly girl. The room looks fantastic! Love it...love it...love it.
Have a great weekend and Mother's Day!
Cheri
What a beautiful job, love the colors, and yes, the new nightstand goes perfect. So glad you came out of the fall with just a bruised boodie bun...
Talk to ya soon,
Mel
It's looking great! I hate to paint too. Would rather take a sharp stick in the eye! Blessings, Celene
You first had me teary with new again of lil Eli... then had me laughing again!~ then going Oh NO, not the hiney.... I hope you nor the curio were hurt during the paint dance.
Bill sounds likes Mr B about trends such as plates on the wall! LOL
The room looks fabulous! You sure have a great eye:-)
Enjoy Mothers Day! Give your mom a big hug for me!
Oh Dot, I love the toile set.And I am like you, I love the color of your walls. It goes so good with the black and white.Lookin fabulous girl !
Everything looks just beautiful!
Bless your hubby's heart, he is so willing to help you every time you change things up. He is a blessing!
Thanks for sharing your home and life with us.

Ok..picket I have a great story about the Polk County Sheriff and how they hunted down this cop killer and let's just say we want have to spend our hard earned dollars on his trial. But your "Burly Boys" would get a kick out of it. When they asked him why they shot him '68" times he said, " That was all the ammo we had". He deseres a Great American award for that one. I'm sure your NRA card carry-n-, camo wearing and huntng enthusiasts would agree.
We did.
This room is so beautiful! I love the paint color - what did you use? It would be perfect in my living room. :) blessings, marlene
FIRST of all---I can NOT believe YOU are a great grandmother!! OMG!! It just can't be possible! I know you are just wild with excitement--that little baby is a cutie-pie!!!
I LOVE your room redo! You are always so busy fixing up your nest! I wish I had your enthusiasm! Can you send some my way?:)
Happy Mother's Day, Dot! Your family is so lucky to have you! L, Dana
Hey Gal, Love the new paint color, and of course your lovely toile!!
My hubby is Mr. Macho Macho Man, and I would NEVER be able to put toile on my bed!! He's loves what I do with the house, but still wants to have a little say in it, too!! He would LOVE your bedframe!!
There is just something about making a few changes here and there that is so refreshing and rejuvenating!! Keep up the great work, Gal!!
Have a lovely weekend!!
Blessings,
Becky
I absolutely love that color on the walls! I have mine painted a similar color and i, too, keep going back to it. It just looks so good and clean looking next to the white!
Your house is adorable!
God bless,
A Southern Sanctuary
Hi Dot! Trying to catch up here! First CONGRATS on being a great-grandma!!! Glad they are both doing well! So Precious!!! Your bedroom looks gorgeous as usual; very up-dated yet not tooo much, still has that Picket touch! Very pretty. I've done the same dance, forgetting I was up on the ladder and stepping back to admire my work! Thankfully nothing and I mean nothing got broken!!lol Enjoy your mother's day dear! I know that goes without saying that you will! Sincerely, Jeannette
Somehow I missed this post until today. The bedroom REALLY looks wonderful. I wish I could get my rear in gear, and get something accomplished. (Not the way you did - falling off a chair with a paint roller in hand!!) You be careful, now. O.k.? Sally
Dot, it's so pretty! I love the paint color, the sign, the plates...all of it! I'm glad you didn't get hurt doing this project.
I am new to the blog world and I have read every one of your posts! I think you are my favorite by far and I love all of the pictures of your home that you post! I can't wait to see more...I am getting inspired! Thanks again and keep on blogging your wit and wisdom and touching words have me reading and wanting more!
