...Finding Bits & Pieces of Me....

Hey guys..just wanted to pop in and say Happy Halloween to everybody and let you know I am working my fingers to the bone trying to find pieces of 'me'! (wish I could say working my fat hips to the bone but they ain't going nowhere it seems! lol)

I am still going back and forth between here and my parents house 3-4 times a day checking in and fixing meals but it is getting better each day...again thank you so much for all the love you guys have given me...

I am slowly but surely working thru the boxes....this house is more square footage than our old one but it has some smaller rooms for some reason...especially the living room...it has no foyer just walk right in so I 'made' a foyer and this time I am going back to my old ways of having alot of stuff around me...hey... I need my comfort zone right now! lol Here is what I got so far...
The walls are soft yellow and the carpet a light blonde (which is more than I can say for my gray roots at the moment...oh sorry...focus!) I gave little Sofie all my Cherished Teddy collection and I am using that curio to hold some family photos...

I just put a lace curtain over the window and don't have to have any blinds in here because I don't have to worry about privacy at the back side of the living room so I love that!
The ceilings in here are very tall in the middle but I love how it looks...I have the two leather recliners on the opposite wall but haven't found things for the end tables yet....

I also have painted the front porch posts white and the front door entrance surround and the shutters on the front porch are now painted black...gotta paint the front door next...

Now see this horrid fixture down below...exactly!!!! That was the first thing to go!!!! I couldn't bare to even go in the kitchen because of that thing...who could even use water from that thing..I would drink water from a rusty old pipe over an artisian well before I used that thing!!!!
Here is what my sweet hubby replaced it with one day while I was at my folks house...ohhhh glory...no I don't have the glorious white sink from my old house with the beautiful faucets..
But this suits me just find seeing as how the old sink is stainless steel....I did this one in black & white so the wall paper wouldn't distract from the pic...now I can go in the kitchen!!!! lol lol
It's alot to get use to around here...it's different for sure renting a house but I am so thankful for it and for the peaceful feeling I have just being here..I will make it our home and care for it in this new chapter of our lives...take care you guys and have a safe and happy Halloween...love you so!!!! ~Picket~

Hey, you! I was so glad to see your name pop up this morning. And I love what you've done with the new nest! Isn't that Bill sweet? He gets big brownie points from your friends for being so good to our Dot, and the sink looks great, Dot. Can Bill come help me next???

I think about you often and miss your wit and heart more than you know. But I understand what is going on and how important it is to be with your sweet parents and do for them. You are their ministering angel, Dot.

Sending you much love...

XO,

Sheila :-)

Hi

You don't know me but I have been reading your blog for a few months now. I "think" I may have commented before, but it may have just been a comment in my head, lol. Anyway, just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your writing. I am so happy for you that you have moved near your parents. In a few months we too are going to move from our home of 25 years to a rental, (long story) and I have found myself soo apprehensive to go back to the world of renting. But you have reminded me that I can make where ever I am living "home"...and that it is possible (sometimes anyway I guess) to change the things that don't suit you. Your home looks like it is coming along wonderfully. I LOVE what you have done to it so far. Everything about your blog is homey and warm and no doubt why I have been drawn to it. Have a wonderful time getting settled, and may God richly bless you, Debbie

No matter what you do with your new house,I'm sure it has to feel like home since all your family is close and love surrounds you. Btw,I think I have the same sofa you have only in reversed colors. Mine is the green that is in the fringe on your throw pillows and the color of your sofa is in my fringe. Just thought I would share that with you. Don't work too hard(sorry,I forgot who I was talking to for a moment).

It already looks like you are making it a very warm and inviting home. They say home is always where the heart is, and it shows your heart is where you are. Everything looks just gorgeous. I love it. Hugs, Marty

It's definitely looking like Picket lives there. I've been trying to declutter too but it seems that more clutter just pops up the more I get rid of! I actually have a new faucet I bought a few months ago that's just waiting to be installed. My poor husband works so much and only sleeps 4-5 hours a night and if he's lucky he gets an hour nap after work. I try not to ask for much when it comes to honey do projects. I may have to wait until tax refund time and pay a plumber to do it or learn how to do it myself! Thanks also for stopping in to the luau. I hope you grabbed yourself some food before you left, lol!

I tell ya what, if I didn't know better, I'd think you'd been living in that house for years. You've already made it your own! Woot woot! And wtg Bill on the shiny new faucet. It rocks!

Now I wanna see the whole kitchen and what all you've done to the front porch. I guess you're waiting till the door is done before you share, huh?

So happy that things are improving for you and your parents. I love the new faucet! I love the one in your old house too, and your white sink! But I think your sweet hubby sure made the kitchen a lot nicer just by replacing the faucet.
Everything looks inviting and homey. Just what we would expect from Picket's Place.
I think you are working too hard and need to take small breaks when you can. I know it's hard to rest amongst the chaos, but you need to try. If I were closer, I'd come help you!
Take care of yourself and know that our prayers will not stop.

Everything is looking so warm and Picket! Glad to hear that your wonderful parents are doing better and that you are so close and able to see and help them. I just took everything out of my dining room while we painted and I vowed to 'declutter' when I put it all back. That lasted about a week...a few things stayed gone, but most of it is back. I loved it once, and I love it still! A gal has to do.....

Stay happy and enjoy your new haome!

Hi Picket. I'm glad your parents are starting to do better. It seems your move came just in time so you would be that much closer. I'm glad you have Bill to help with the house while your helping with your parents. He is such a sweetie, tearing down that wallpaper and all!

Dot I was so happy to hear from you! I can't believe how much has been happening in your life but it's all good and I'm glad the Lord put you where you needed to be for your parents and yourself right now. Your Bill is such a blessing to you all.

I know you'll work wonders with this new place and make it shine with love.

We're all good ...my grandson is crawling and beginning to take a couple steps holding on. I've been out West to see him a few times. I wish he were closer, but I'm making the best of the times I have with him.
I'm taking care of my Mom now too, She also lives just a few houses away from me, so it's easy to help her a little each day. She's getting frail, she's in her late 80's, but she's in good health, she just needs help with shopping and doing bills and little things like that.

We are all very fortunate to have families to love, aren't we?

Take care ...don't do too much at once ...it will all get done in time.

I'll drop by again soon!

Hugs, Pat

Dot, It is good to see that your are settling in to your new home. It's not the house that makes a home. You could make a barn a comfortable place to live. You are a very talented lady. We are all going through a lot of changes in todays economy. Your rental looks like a very nice place. I love you sis. I can't wait to hear more from you. Hugs, Terrie

Hi Dot!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I havent been visiting much of late and have just caught up on all that's going on with you. Girl your plate is full right now! But sounds like it's getting better - I will add you & Mamma & Daddy to my prayer list on my sidebar and I'll be praying for y'all (did I just say y'all??).

I'm so happy you were able to find a place so close to them - what a blessing that was! You are making it Picket's Place for sure!! I can hardly wait to see the progress of it. I think it's fun to start over with a clean slate and use all the fun things you have to decorate with in a new way. Oh it's gonna be fabulous!!

FYI I have the same outdoor lights on my front porch and driveway lights!! You have great taste!!!

Big huge hugs & much love, Sherry

God Bless you! You are such a wonderful daughter, an angel sent to minister. I lost my dad 20 yrs ago and would have been there for him if it had been that way, but God chose to call him home suddenly. I miss him everyday, but do know he is in much better place. Do what you can now for him, one day you will have no regrets.
Praying for you.
