But I wanted to join Marty for Table Top Tuesday....I've had this post ready for awhile..but it always got put on the back burner and I forgot about it...this is from back in early Spring...remember when I got the larger dinner plates from Wal-Mart...
Well I used these dainty little dessert plates I got from Oldest Burly's beautiful wife for a Mother's Day gift a few years ago...there are four in the set....love the colors in them...
On the back it says they are adapted from a French porcelain dessert set made for the United States president James K. Polk in 1846....
I just used stuff from around the house...kept the same black checked fabric on the table...added some greenery and little Spring birds I have had for years...
I love how those sweet little dishes just blend so good with all my old country stuff...used the old wire bird cage as a cloche for a nest....
Love those tiny topiaries I found on clearance a few years ago at Michaels...I think I only paid a couple of dollars a piece for those... don't you love how I don't know a thing about proper silverware placement...uh I mean how I just put the silverware in the glass!!!
See guys you can set a pretty table and break all the rules while you're doing it....now if I could just get as good as BJ over at Sweet Nothings about cooking some of those fantastic biscuits and showing you some mouth watering..make you wanta lick the screen pics...oh glory!Have a great day you guys...no matter what you have going on...take time to enjoy the moment...be sure and visit Marty and all the other great blogs sharing their inspiration for TABLE TOP TUESDAY with us here in blogland...love you guys...Picket

20 lil sweet taters came by...:
The flatware in the glass just means you don't have to expend as much energy reaching for your fork. Sounds like an efficiency benefit to me :).
Love your table.
Once again, your table is exquisite, so inviting for guests! I love how you can incorporate the black checkered tablecloth with any table scape and it goes very well!
Looks great, Picket! Love those pretty little dessert plates and they do look wonderful with all your sweet things.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Oh heavens yes! Those biscuits are going to make an appearance on my dinner table very soon. I'm aiming for a wetter dough and that's all I remember about that.
Love the checked cloth that just grounds everything so beautifully and the silverware in the glasses...cute idea.
Darling table set-up!
How long do you leave everything set up for? I was just wondering after looking at everyone's tables.
Enjoy your week!
I love those dishes, they're so pretty and dainty! Your tablescape looks wonderful, I love the birdies and the check tablecloth just brings everything together so perfectly! Very nice.
