I Love The Farmer's Market!!!!

Hey guys...it has been a great start to the weekend so far...got up early and went ot the local Farmer's Market....oh my word it was like being in a candy store...booth after booth loaded with fresh picked goodness....I got me some of these little beauties...I told Bill I just wanted something to snap or shell...I will be snapping these in a few minutes..I have always loved fresh garden veggies...something about them just takes me back to my childhood...

We had a wonderful Memorial Day with family....it ended with tears for me..because of some news oldest Burly and his wife announced to me...more on that later...I have prayed and cried this week and tried to refocus my thoughts...even went fishing up at the youngest Burly's ...even got a treasured filled box from a precious blogging friend...I'll share that later...it was amazing..but I told Bill I am determined to visit the Farmer's Market every week this summer..it just soothes me to see and touch all that fresh produce..it takes me right back to my grandmother's porch where I sat many an hour and shelled peas and snapped beans and listen to her talk about life...I loved my grandparents and I loved my childhood...

But on to the main reason for this post...I told you a few weeks ago I was gonna have a little giveaway....now in honor of trying to add alittle 'Picket'ness to each and every home in the country...it is my Southern duty and pleasure to offer for your viewing pleasure....YOUR VERY OWN GLASS CANISTERS....WITH SCOOPS !!!!

You can add flour..sugar...meal....cookies....jelly beans...dried beans even....the possiblities are endless...and the scoops are a must!!!!! Then what 'Picket' kitchen would be complete without a chicken or rooster....wellllll I found you these glorious dishtowels (4) at TJ Maxx and just had to have them...yep got me 4 of them also...love the color and the size and love that checkerboard border! I think they would make beautiful curtains even!

So here is the whole package deal...the two glass canisters..the scoops....the dishtowels...it will be a great addition to any kitchen and might just make a country girl out of you..you might even want to paint something black...oh sorry...you might not be ready for step 2 to 'Picket' ness! Now all you have to do for a chance to win is 1.leave a comment on this post...2. be a follower of this blog...3.have a way for me to contact you...4.must live in the US. Oh and I guess you should say if you even want to be entered...I mean some of you may not care for this stuff (say it ain't so Martha!) I will draw the winner Wednesday Morning....

Now to enjoy these little green beauties....a good wash and pressure cooker and smoked ham chunks....oh my word pass the cornbread! Have a great weekend you guys...love you all so much and I appreciate each and every visit you make here....I haven't been able to make visits or post for a while...finally had to change my pass word after all these years....go figure..maybe blogger has finally got the kinks worked out....I hope so....Picket

Oh Pickett, blogger has made a mess for so many bloggers. I couldn't visit either. Anyway, we are in Maine enjoying Acadia National Park. a beautiful place and we are loving our vacation here.

I hope your big burley boy and his wife are alright. Sometimes our children just have no idea how things can be hurtful and make us sad. I pray all is well.
I too Love the farmer's Market and especially the fresh veggies. I too was raised on home grown veggies and I miss that wonderful fun time of sitting under the shade of a tree and shelling peas. We had a veggie garden and a flower garden for picking. My mom and grandma loved fresh flowers in the house. I do too.
Your giveaway is so darling. Count me in and I hope I am lucky.

Big ole hugs,
Jeanne xo

Hi Dot! Haven't been able to visit in awhile. My browser suddenly wouldn't allow me to see your blog & several others. I finally switched browsers. I also closed my prim blog (primitive devotion) and left my doll blog open. I will always love prim & country, but my house is full and there's not much else to talk about. LOL! So I am blogging about one of my hobbies.
I hope to go back and read all your posts that I have missed. Your blog is one of my all-time favorites.
Please enter me in your give away. What a generous gift! Good luck to all who enter.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Oh Dot, the beans look wonderful. I was out shopping with my new granddaughter all day and when I got home DH had stopped at the Farmers roadside stand and pick me up some of the most wonderful Red potatoes and onions and then a fabulous fresh Watermelon. I was just thrilled. I love fresh grown produce too and it always tastes the best. There's a field behind our house and they have corn that just makes my mouth water ever time I drive by it. I can't wait until it is ready to pick. I would love to be entered in your giveaway. You know I would put those cannisters and scoops to good use and the tea towels are wonderful. Perfect to go with some of my other roosters. I am thrille you had a great Mem. Day weekend. Having family around is always the biggest blessing. Yes, I am a follower and you know how to get ahold of me, so you can just go ahead and pick my name. lol Hugs, Marty

Oh Dot, we should have plenty of those beans soon. Would have been sooner but a sweet little rabbit and a hungrey Mama deer decided they wanted them for their breakfast and supper. Needless to say Mr. P. would have choice words for the varmits!!! On the other hand gives me a little longer before having to stand in kitchen and put them up for winter. (ha). Speaking of porches, my last post was about my porch, but girl it's too hot to sit there now. It was 99 here yesterday. Love your giveaway and would be honored if you would enter my name. You know I follow and you sure know where to reach me. Such a great giveaway. Hoping you are feeling better and all will be well with the family. Hugs

Oh, Picket, I need to win your giveaway. I have a few of those canisters but need so many more.:)

I love your childhood memories. I have the same memory of sitting on my grandmothers screened in front porch in the rockers shelling peas. It was a simpler life that I so miss. She had an old wood screen door that I so miss the sound of. My honey found me one at Lowes and very soon I will here that sound again.
Have a great week.

Hey Pickett, I am a faithful follower and would love for you to enter me for such a neat giveaway. Love all of Pickett land but especially your stories and advice. You are like having a good sister in my life and you take me home each time I read your blog.
I love farmer's markets too and usually tear up and say something corny to the farmers like "thank you for picking these cucumbers so that I have the easy part of just picking them out of bucket instead of a hot field". I am just so grateful for the work they do and it takes me home too. So does snapping beans and smelling them cook. I am glad we both had a good time growing up and have not forgotten where we came from and what's important.

I do go on and on but I appreciate you so.

Terri

I love the Farmer's Market too Dot. I can hardly wait until we begin getting our vegetables there. I grew up with some of the same memories...my grandparents had a ranch in Montana and my grandmother had a wonderful garden. When company arrived, it meant a trip to the chicken house to get a fresh chicken for dinner and then out to the garden for beans, peas, corn and apples for a pie. I would give almost anything to live like that again!

Please enter my name in your wonderful give away. Those towels will fit right in in my kitchen....can't have too many chickens and I love the glass containers and scoops. Have a wonderful week Dot.
