WOW, what a kitchen. You have fabulous taste. I just had mine done in a yellow, and wanted to glaze them. Then men told me I couldn't because they used an oil based paint, and it wouldn't work. :-( I'll figure something out.
You have the neatest blog and I usually just read the current post. I have been reading it all now, and I love it. I think it was Laurie who told me to get over here and say Hi to you. So, Hi Picket ! I'm Connie, the other Connie, as I am told. There are two of us here now. I have a blog and I spend way too much fooling around with it ~~ days like this when it's raining. I have my sidebar all upside down and mixed up now. When I move the categories in the dashboard they flip back to wherever they were. Ah, such fun. ( I also ramble on too much at times).
Just wanted to say hi and tell you your blog is so good and I love your home.

I've been wanting topaint my cabinets two different colors, but can't decide...maybe sage green on the bottom, and leave the top white, but I LOVE your black and cream ones, so I'll have to think about that too! xorachel

Girl, you HAVE been busy!!! Ohhh my...I absolutely adore your black cabinets!!! They're gorgeous, my friend!!! You have been making so many changes to your beautiful home and I have loved them all!!! I'm still marveling over your paneled walls and now your freshly painted black kitchen cabinets!!! Dot, you have one of the prettiest homes that I've ever seen...I just adore it!!!

Ohh yes, I certainly did enjoy Bill's lunch too! Good thing he came and got it when he did or I would have ate it! hehe!!!

Dear Dot,
Your cabinets are so beautiful. I love them and your beautiful porch and all your flowers. I love what you did by spray painting your tray...it turned out just divine...until I started blogging would I have ever dreamed of taking a picture of my husband's sandwich before he ate it...the other day he went to take the trash out and wanted to know if I needed a picture...lol...(I did have to think a minute)
I don't want to cause tears but I am so sorry about Maggie. She as well as my pets was/are such a vital part of our life...they are family and it hurts when they are gone but she is waiting for you at the gates of heaven....I can't believe that some people don't believe our pets or any animals will be in heaven...that makes me laugh.....my schnauzer says his prayers at night and was never given a treat to do it...he knows what praying is.

12 grandchildren?? Now that is a quiver full! What a blessing!! Maddie-Boo is such a cute name! I'm sure like the other 11, she's just a cute as can be. Being a grandparent is huge joy...along with being a parent! I see you have a daugher named Jen. My Jen is my oldest (she turned 25 on Christmas Day last year).

I'm looking forward to some time when I can sit for a while and read through each of your blogs. You have the gift of encouragement.

Dot, Thursday and Friday we ran hither and yon. Therefore, my visiting took a back seat. As I have my English Muffin, this morning, before we leave for the lake, I decided to visit a bit.

I love your cabinets! I thought about "distressing" the island when it was painted, but it just did not work for me. You made the right decision, when you left them the way they are.

Those flowers your daughter brought should last a week or 10 days. I love that flower. It's so longlasting. I'm taking a grocery store bouquet to the condo.

It's more running hither and yon for us today. I'm moving slow, though...allergies are still around and a benadryl before bed, last night has me slightly lethargic this morning.

I hope to do more visiting during our do nothin' days, over the weekend!

Wow Picket your cabinets look awesome! I think I like them crisp black, too. They look great with your countertop, too. Then to paint that tray was a fab idea. It looks so much better that way. I'm not a silver person either and I probably never would have even thought about buying that tray. I'm going to have to shop with an open mind now, I guess. Dot, I love love love the cabniets. HOw brave are you!! I have been wanting to paint mine black and then a cream and scuff them up, but oh I'm so not brave enough. I did just paint my bathroom vanity this past week. But!!! Someday soon we will be remodeling the bath and I thought oh what can I ruin? Your cabinets are awesome Dot! I love them, you did a great job on the paint, what kind did you use? I just found this wonderful new paint from Behr, check out my blog post. Your blog is so inspiring to me, I love each and every visit, and always leave wondering why I wait soooo long in between visits...busy life, boy does that get in the way!

Picket everything is looking great. I love the cabinets black. When you mentioned the tray and spray paint I wasn't sure but it looks so good. Of course I love the green on the quilt rack, green is my favorite color.
