Oh your table looks awesome! I had thought that I had the same dishes as you, but now that I see your dishes again, you have a gold color in the wheat. Mine are the Golden Rhapsody pattern by Kayson.

My mom had the golden rhapsody dishes. Her father owned a Mobil gas station and they were something people could earn for buying gas there, but he gave her a whole set for free! My brother has the set, but I found matching dishes at Goodwill. Like your dishes, mine sure bring back wonderful memories and make me feel closer to my mom who has been gone 27 years this month.

It's too funny that you "stole" the goblets from your daughter! hehehe!

Picket: You're absolutely right, the esophageal spasms do feel like a heart attack. The GI doctor told us that most people think they're having heart attacks when it happens. It breaks my heart to see him hurting so much and not be able to do anything about it. Jill is an absolute angel though. She knew when she agreed to marry him that he had this medical condition and that they would probably always have medical debt but she's agreed to do it anyway. Bless her little heart, who knew it would start just two weeks into their marriage. Larry and I are covering all medical bills until they're married. Our insurance doesn't cover him as he's over the age of 19. It's drained what we had for Trav's mission so we're just walking by faith that we can get by. We now have a grundle of medical debt from it but I'd rather have Nicholas get better. I overheard the doctor saying some pretty nice things to his nurse about Nicholas and then I heard him say, "he has a horrible disease" and then told her to do whatever they could to help us afford the procedures. He's a good man who truly cares about his patients. Anyway, sorry this turned into a novel but I'm on a break at work (working all the overtime I can right now) and so I had a minute to stop by. Thanks for your prayers for him, I usually don't ask people to pray and I'm glad you took the initiative bz he certainly needs divine intervention at this point (so does Trav). :) Thanks.

Oh Dot, you have such beautiful dishes!!! I firgured it was about time i got over for a visit, life is so busy right now, but im doing my best to stop into blogland when i can. Oh Picket I just had to stop by again today and tell you what I saw at the Estate Sale I went to today. A whole, complete set of Wheat plates! Only this set had a yellow border around every plate and bowl. I said, "You know honey, I saw these on a wonderful blog just yesterday....they are coming back and I think they would be just lovely in our dining room!"
He said, "Oh really! We have too many sets of dishes!" That's a man for ya! The whole set was only $25.00....teapot and everything....You would have loved it!

I just had to comment on the mushroom canister set! What a flashback! I got the entire canister set and salt/pepper shakers as a wedding present in 1975. I used them for years. At least one is glued together. They now sit on a shelf in my fruit cellar. You make me want to get them out!! I also inherited my grandma's dishes and I'm almost sure they're just like yours. Sadly she isn't here to ask her where they came from.

I so enjoy your blog. I have read it for months!

Ok Dot, this was so cool reding through your blog this morning. My mom had a set of those dishes with the wheat pattern on htem, now not a whole set like you have, but I do remember eating off of those plates as a little girl. The mushroom canister set I had when Mike and I first got married. Mushroom deocr was real popular back in the early 80"s and I has a set in our first home we shared! Thanks for the memories this morning. Mom and I are having a tag sale at her house this afternoon. The work is all done, everything is tagged, but weve had a rain delay. So I haven't headed over there yet. I so want her to go back a reread your blog. You and here would be great fiends if you lived near by. I know she would love you. Your writings would inspire her too! She loves reminising about the past and your stories and memories remind me of her. Have a great day!

Good Morning Picket,

I was thinking about emailing you the other day, I've just been extra busy and time seems to be speeding by.
I love setting a table with dishes that have fond memories. Although these days, I'm lucky to get dishes on the table for our meals. Between First Communions, Graduations, Birthdays and Weddings, I feel like I'm in a whirlwind.
Did you get your pumpkin seeds planted?
Our son his here this weekend and I can hear him stirring, so I better get breakfast started. Keep in touch and hope your weekend in a good one.
